During our honeymoon, Todd and I stayed at many hotels/hostels/motel things. Most of them were lackluster - mere places for us to sleep after a day of sun and adventure. La Piscina Natural (The Natural Pool) was an exception - it was a beautiful place to stay, mostly because of the large, vegetation and critter-full grounds and the proximity to the beautifully green caribbean. Above is a picture of our room/cabin.

Above is the natural pool. We snorkeled in it daily and saw all sorts of cool critters.

Above is the outlet that feeds the natural pool. The configuration of the reef and rocks prevented any major currents from impacting the pool - perfect for swimming.

Above is a picture of the pavilion - Todd's favorite place. In addition to being a beautiful place to relax, the Piscina Natural was run by this totally laid-back dude named Walter. Walter kept a freezer stocked with beers, pop and water to which guests were allowed to help themselves. Walter worked on the honor system and we kept track of our massive beer consumption in a little notebook. Todd loved the super cold beer and Walter's relaxed 'tude.

Todd and I staked out 2 hammocks (close to the natural pool) that had an awesome view of the ocean. Above is a picture of me enjoying an Imperial, our favorite Costa Rican beer, in one of my favorite hammock spots on the trip (the other fav is at Tesoro Escondido, about which I willl post later).
We liked Piscina Natural so much that we stayed there at 2 different times on our trip: in the very beginning, on our way to Panama and on our way back. The ONLY downside to the place was that it was located 1.5 miles out of the small town of Cahuita so we had to do a lot of walking - especially to get meals. It was worth it though!

Critterful? Love it. You have the best words.
Gorgeous! Did you bring home any of the beer?
No, we didn't even consider bringing beer home. But, we each bought 2 Imperial beer t-shirts! Woo-hoo! It's good beer...but it doesn't top Premo (and therefore wasn't worth being lugged back in our packs).
