Open Water Certification

Todd and I jumped right into our PADI Open Water Diver Certification...starting classes on Oct. 17. Classes consist of videos, workbook exercises/quizzes, discussion with your instructor, 5 confined water dives and 4 open water dives. You practice all your skillz in the confined water dives...so you're busy flooding your mask and breathing out of your buddy's regulator. You get to start enjoying the underwater world during the open water dives. Todd brought his GoPro underwater camera on a few of our open water dives (before it broke) and caught some great stills and video. Below is a taste: The Todd Couple under water.

Did the course teach you how to avoid the bends? Or would the be "the bendz"? :)

Yes, we did learn about how it's important to ascend at a slow enough rate so as to avoid "the bends". There's a more official term for that condition...that I can't quite put my finger on.
