The weekend of May 16th, Todd ditched Stella and I again and went up to the North Shore to kayak for his last creeking weekend of the spring snowmelt season. His goal for the year was to run Illgen Falls in Tettegouche State Park. Illgen Falls is a 35 foot waterfall on the Baptism River, it perched amongst a long run of Class 3 and 4 rapids.
Todd and 4 other friends ran the river to the falls and went over one-by-one. The first 2 dudes "swam" (i.e., their kayaks flipped and they had to bail out and literally swim) and the next dude successfully rolled his boat in the turbulent water. Toddie was next...he shot the falls, got flipped over and attempted to roll twice before hitting the wall. Then he rolled up but was flipped again, before losing his paddle. Luckily the safety boaters were there to help him roll upright.
After all of this they all paddled to Lake Superior and rolled in the cold water to celebrate. Interesting way to celebrate...
I wasn't too worried...those dudes are super safety conscious. It is a bit alarming, though, to watch the footage of Toddie v. Illgen below.

If I knew Joe was doing that every weekend, I wouldn't be able to sleep.
You are a much stronger wife than I am!
Brooke, I don't think your couch would make it over the falls. ZING!!!!
So much stronger! I couldn't even bring myself to watch the video. Anna, I think you can handle Todd's crazy weekend excursions because you're just as tough as he is.
I knew before watching the video that Todd makes it through, but oh-my-god that didn't stop the fluttering heart and near hyperventilation! My god. How is that fun?
