Todd and I missed Tropical Storm Richard (which may or may not have become a full blown hurricaine) by a nose. We were in the rainforest when we were told it was going to hit the island of Roatan (the island on which we spent the first 6 days of our trip - the island we flew into) at 8pm on Saturday(Oct 23) night. So, we stayed in the rainforest and experienced only some rain. Okay, lots of rain. But, nothing else. Turns out the rainforest was the best place to be.
We´re on our way back to the island, crossing our fingers that it wasn´t too damaged...the reports we´ve heard is that some of the roads were flooded out and some trees were down, so it could be worse. The only hitch in our plan? The 1.5 hour ferry ride we have to take to get over to the island. It´s beautifully sunny today, but if the sea is still rough from the storm, there may be copious amounts of vomiting.
We´re currently in a gringo-style mall in the city of La Cieba, on the coast. I´ll write later to update you on the vomiting.

Did you find a huge snake to protect you from the hurricane? Blech...
No, no snakes. And there wasn't any vomiting either. Thank goodness.
